Turning Points

The Notebooks of Change

A turning point can begin in a moment so ordinary that we almost miss it. A familiar reaction falters. A question remains open. We notice that another response is possible.

In Turning Points, Sauro Tronconi explores how such openings become part of a life. Drawing on five seminar accounts, the book moves through attention and presence, pleasure and satisfaction, fate and freedom, trust and the strength to act. The reflections emerge through conversations, practical experiences and images that stay with the reader: a spider’s web, a light carried into darkness, the movements through which we discover how much of ourselves is present.

Rooted in the Fourth Way tradition and the author’s work with the Self Method, this is an enquiry into the relationship between understanding and experience. The body, emotions and thought each have a part in it. So do uncertainty, humour and the resistance we meet when an old account of ourselves begins to change.

This English literary adaptation of Punti di svolta preserves the four-part journey of the original collection, with the dedication and introduction by Rossella Ferrero. It invites the reader to follow that journey into the circumstances of ordinary life, where the possibility of another direction must finally be lived.
