Notice pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Updated: 13 October 2026.
Data controller and contact details
The data controller for this website is Sauro Tronconi. For enquiries relating to personal data: info [@] esbooks.it. This notice applies to esbooks.it; linked external websites apply their own privacy notices.
Browsing data and technical operation
When you visit the website, the infrastructure hosting it processes the data needed to receive and serve requests, such as IP address, date and time, requested resource, technical browser information and the outcome of the request. Hosting is provided by Aruba. These data may be recorded in technical logs for operation, security and the management of anomalies.
The legal basis is the controller’s legitimate interest in making the website available and protecting it, pursuant to Article 6, paragraph 1, letter f), of Regulation (EU) 2016/679; any processing required to meet legal obligations is based on letter c). Technical data are retained for as long as necessary for operational and security purposes and in accordance with the hosting service’s technical retention periods; further retention may be necessary to meet legal obligations or to investigate anomalies and protect rights. The controller does not use these data for commercial profiling.
Cookies and other storage tools
The website stores only the language used for browsing and books, and the choice of light or dark theme, in the browser through sessionStorage, using the keys esbooks-language and esbooks-theme. These preferences are not transmitted to a profiling service and serve to maintain the selected functions while browsing. They remain in the tab’s session; their duration may also depend on the browser’s restore functions. They can be removed by clearing the website’s data in the browser.
The website removes previous persistent preferences with the same names when the new version loads. The pages do not install cookies, advertising pixels or profiling tools and do not embed third-party analytics, videos or social content. The technical preferences just described serve the functions requested by the user: a consent banner is not necessary for the current configuration. Any logs produced by the hosting infrastructure are separate from these tools and are described in the previous section.
Voluntary contact
The website has no registration, newsletter or order forms. By writing to the contact address, you voluntarily provide your email address and the content of your message. These data are used to respond to your request and manage any correspondence, on the basis of steps requested before a possible contract, where relevant (Article 6, paragraph 1, letter b), or the legitimate interest in responding to communications received (letter f). Providing the data is optional; without contact details, it is not possible to reply.
Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting relationships. The retention period is determined by the conclusion of the enquiry, the need to document agreements or authorisations and any retention obligations or time limits applicable to the protection of rights. These requirements concern relevant messages and attachments, not the indiscriminate retention of all correspondence. Contact details are not used for automated promotional mailings.
For an initial enquiry, contact details and a brief description of the request are sufficient. Do not send passwords, payment details, identity documents or health information; also avoid including other people’s personal data that are not needed for the communication.
Hosting and email services
Aruba S.p.A. provides hosting and email for the domain. Messages sent to info [@] esbooks.it are received on Aruba and also forwarded to the Gmail account used by the controller to manage correspondence. The message, contact details and any attachments are therefore also processed through Google’s service. Simply loading the pages of esbooks.it does not activate Google services in the visitor’s browser.
Correspondence is not made public. It may be accessible to the controller, persons authorised by him and providers involved in delivering and securing the services, within the limits of their respective functions. Information about providers’ processing: Aruba privacy notice and Google Privacy Policy.
Transfers and external websites
Google services may also process data on servers outside the European Economic Area. Google describes the bases for its transfers, including adequacy decisions and, where applicable, standard contractual clauses, on its data transfer frameworks page, which also explains how to obtain information about safeguards. For information about recipients and safeguards relating to processing managed by the controller, you can write to info [@] esbooks.it.
Links to shops, the author’s website and other external resources are ordinary links. Opening them takes you to services with their own controllers and privacy notices: any purchases and data provided on those platforms are managed directly by them.
Your rights
In the cases provided for by Article 15 and subsequent articles of the Regulation, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can write to the controller’s contact address and lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali. No decisions based solely on automated processing or profiling are made. The standard period set by the Regulation for responding to requests is one month from receipt. Where requests are complex or numerous, this may be extended by a further two months, informing the data subject within the first month and giving the reasons. Any information needed to confirm identity is requested only where there are reasonable doubts and in a proportionate manner.
